INFO300 Hands On Linux Project • 12:30 Section:
The progress report and compliance with specs are updated at one second past every minute. They were last updated 2018-04-11 09:36:01.
Logs for bash and sftp history are updated every ten minutes.
A good looking progress report will have no red marks for components on their due date.
Due dates and other specs are posted on the class’ web page. The lack of red marks does not
necessariy mean that all specs for the project have been met.
See Notes about Names and Permissions for Parts 1, 2, & 3

Today's IT Infrastructure is often stated as three components: computers, storage, and networking. It's hard to say which is most important since all three are usually needed to do any real work, or entertain us. Early computers, through the '70s, were seldom networked but today's are usually networked and many mission-critical applications require networks to run. Networks were rare in computer systems from the '50s and emerged in the '70s as enterprise found it was cost-effective and enhanced control to connect branches to computers at the home office. Networks became more common in the '80s as PCs became common in the office and at home, but the networks were expensive and very limited compared to today's internet and ethernet. Today's networks are as at least as important as the computers on them. Our personal computers and phones don't do much interesting without their networks. Commerce, relationships, and entertainment depend on networking. 'The network is the computer' is one opinion, and in many cases it seems the computer is the network. Networks, computers, and storage are closely related, engineered to fit like gloves.

After the Sea-Ship—after the whistling winds; After the white-gray sails, taut to their spars and ropes, Below, a myriad, myriad waves, hastening, lifting up their necks, Tending in ceaseless flow toward the track of the ship: Waves of the ocean, bubbling and gurgling, blithely prying, Waves, undulating waves—liquid, uneven, emulous waves, Toward that whirling current, laughing and buoyant, with curves, Where the great Vessel, sailing and tacking, displaced the surface;

"You don’t mean — you can’t mean the people who live here?” cried Professor McGonagall, jumping to her feet and pointing at number four. “Dumbledore — you can’t. I’ve been watching them all day. You couldn’t find two people who are less like us. And they’ve got this son — I saw him kicking his mother all the way up the street, screaming for sweets. Harry Potter come and live here!” “It’s the best place for him,” said Dumbledore firmly. “His aunt and uncle will be able to explain everything to him when he’s older. I’ve written them a letter.” “A letter?” repeated Professor McGonagall faintly, sitting back down on the wall. “Really, Dumbledore, you think you can explain all this in a letter. These people will never understand him! He’ll be famous — a legend — I wouldn’t be surprised if today was known as Harry Potter Day in the future — there will be books written about Harry — every child in our world will know his name!”

Marco-Tomas Ambrogi-Torres Dempster UNIV 112 9 November 2015 On October 21, 2015, Back to the Future Day – the day that Doc Brown and Marty McFly blasted into the past – showed us all how different things were just 30 years ago, and how technology and inventions have progressed, in ways we predicted and ways we couldn’t have imagined. In McFly’s own words, “That’s heavy.” Screen-based technology, hereafter referred to simply as technology, has become a major part of most everyone’s life in the past 20 years, and its influence is especially prevalent in adolescents and children. Whether or not this is beneficial or harmful is something that has been debated time and time again, but there has yet to be a consensus on the subject. The topic of technology’s effect on development has been poked and prodded at by psychological research but not much has been changed as a result of that research. With more in-depth research and analysis, this information could provide insights on to how to best use technology to facilitate positive development in youth. Understanding how technology affects adolescent development can help us understand how to best utilize its capabilities correctly for children. It is already known that the adolescent brain is able to adapt itself to its environment, making adolescents and children the perfect candidates to adopt new technology. Most prevalent among these technologies is communication technology, which can have both positive and negative effects on social development. Technology can also be invaluable in middle and high school classrooms to help facilitate learning, however there are still other types of technology that can distract from the learning environment, making it difficult for institutions to really implement the full scope of technology available. For all these reasons, it is still unclear if technology is beneficial to child and adolescent development or not. Technology presents clear advantages and disadvantages to human development, but there is still a fair amount of gray area and dissenting opinions on certain matters. The primary reason why research on technology’s effect on humans is focused on adolescents and children is due to the way the brain is structured at this point in life. Adolescence is set apart from other stages of the human life cycle by a number of behavioral changes, but along with these is the way the brain is able to adapt in response to changes in its environment. This term is referred to as “plasticity,” as defined by Jay Geidd, an M.D. working at the National Institute of Mental Health (101). Humans also have a long period o time where they are dependent on others for support, making it easy for our brains to adapt to changing demands as we get older. Speaking from an evolutionary standpoint, this allowed humans to adapt themselves to be able to survive in any environment, making humans one of the most adaptable species (Geidd. 101). This necessity for adaptation early in life can explain why young people are more involved with newer technologies and can learn to use them efficiently: Their brains are essentially designed to do just that. After puberty, the human brain matures by growing more specialized (Geidd. 101). With brain maturation comes the process of myelination. According to Francis Steen, a communications studies professor at UCLA, adding a protective casing around neurons called myelin increases the diameter of the axons, thereby speeding up neurotransmitter rates (Steen). This process marks the transition to the adult brain; myelination impedes the growth of new connections in the brain, thus slowing down the “plasticity” that defines the adolescent brain (Geidd. 101). The “plasticity” of younger brains is what makes children and adolescents candidates to better adopt changes in technology, and as we grow older we become less able to adopt these changes. Understanding the biology behind the adolescent brain makes it clear why adolescents and children are the early adopters of new technology, and why this technology has the biggest effect on them. One of the most widely adopted technologies is screen-based technology used for communication. According to Kaveri Subrahmanyam and Patricia Greenfield – professors of psychology at California State University and the University of California, Los Angeles, respectively – email, text messaging, and instant Messaging are among the most widely used forms of online communication technology (120). One main concern among psychologists is the effects that communication technology has on social development of children and teens. In a longitudinal study carried out by researchers Robert Kraut, William Scherlis, Tridas Mukhopadhyay, Jane Manning, and Sara Kiesler at Carnegie Mellon University, a diverse number of families were given computers and Internet access in their homes for the first time between the years of 1995 and 1998 (Subrahmanyam et al. 8). In this study, teens and children used their computers for a number of uses, but mostly their usage patterns concentrated on communicating with friends outside of school and, after a period of time, strangers whom they met online (Subrahmanyam et al. 18-19). This shows that from its inception, the Internet was popular mainly as a form of communication, as it is today. Whether or not this is a good thing for adolescents is a topic still debated by psychologists and other experts today.

Culture defines the people you work with and the way you work. One job I recently left is a completely different culture than the one I took up. I recently left a restaurant job where the management and some of the other staff knew each other outside of work and hung out after work was done. The people who all knew each other were very tight-knit and had a lot of fun with themselves, but those who weren’t a part of this “circle” were somewhat excluded. The fact that I had worked there for over a year gave me an edge, and everyone respected and liked me, but the different types of people and how they interacted lead to a culture based on friendship and less on professionalism. By contrast, my new job is a small interior design company run by a family friend. Knowing her outside of work, I had an idea that she was a very serious, driven woman, and she brought that to her business too. Everything is about being professional in her business, from the dress standards to the way we interact with each other and the people we serve. The culture is very focused on professionalism and putting the best face forward, and though we have laughs and can have fun, it’s a much more serious workplace than my last one. A job’s culture defines how people interact with each other and how they get work done. Having a good culture for the business environment you are in can make or break your business. Changing this culture to one that fits the business and helps it thrive can be an arduous task, but is very important to ensuring the long-term success of any business. Organizational culture in and of itself is a difficult thing to grasp. If you ask anyone in the business world about it, they will all be able to tell you that a) it exists, and b) it is very important to shaping the behavior of a company. One thing they won’t be able to give you a straight answer on is what exactly it is. In understanding organizational culture, it’s important to know its role within a company. Culture establishes the norms within a company, i.e. how things are done normally. It also determines the way individuals within an organization think, feel, and act as a single unit. Thus, we can see that it is developed by the entire organization: Employees, leadership, stakeholders, company policy, and individual and shared values all have a role in shaping culture, among a plethora of other determinants within a company. Considering many different parts make up organizational culture, it’s a difficult concept to define within any organization. Culture is focused on instinct, and it is made up of habits and emotional that people have made repetitive to the point that they don’t even think about it. Beyond that, culture is constantly changing within an organization, so it’s harder still to effectively determine what parts need to be addressed more than others Since we’ve determined that culture is this big, scary beast that no one has seen or knows how to define, why would anyone go through the trouble? It seems as though it’s more difficult to change something you can’t define than it is to just deal with it. Furthermore, since culture cannot be overhauled by traditional methods, more nuanced methods are required, taking even more time and money. Changing a company’s culture may seem difficult in the short-term, but can provide a host of benefits for the long-term. Engrained within a company’s culture is an immense amount of emotional energy that can be put into the business in a positive manner. When a culture is at its worst, people are unmotivated and don’t want to put all of themselves into the company. This results in energy being wasted and a decline in productivity. The company doesn’t receive the full benefits that its employees can bring in this situation. Consequentially, a company with a positive culture that fosters employee engagement receive boundless success as the employees dedicate themselves to their work and have a desire to do their best. Research has shown that companies which committed to using informal approaches to drive their culture into a new direction were significantly more likely to see positive change that lasted. 70% of firms who effectively used elements of informal cultural change experienced “sustainable improvement in organizational pride and emotional commitment” (“10 Principles of Culture”). It can be seen that organizational culture is an emotional aspect to employees, and those who are emotionally committed to the company they are in can work with the company to accelerate it in a positive direction.

I nostri genitori ci portavamo a scuola.

LeBron James is the best player in NBA history. He is one of only two palyers to averag at least 25 points, six rebounds, and six assists for his career. LeBron's numbers are actually 27.1, 7.3, and 7.0 - the other being Oscar Robertson. (239) He is one of five players with at least four NBA MVPs, alongside Wilt Chamberlain (four), Michael Jordan (five), Bill Russell (five), and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (six), and he's not done yet. As you well know, he is the only player in moder NBA history to play in seven straight NBA Finals - sorry, James Jones doesn't count as he missed the 2014 postseason. Yet those are just accolades and numbers. LeBron's ascendancy is evident every time he steps foot on an NBA court. He is the most versatile player the game has ever seen. He can guard all five positions; he can play point guard and power forward in the same offensive possesion. (636) He is among the smartest basketball players ever, with an IQ rivaled by only Magic Johnson in the modern era. He's unselfish (to a fault), a leader and someone who's always looking to make the right play, no matter how much flak he might take for it. Kobe Bryant was a better scorer; John Stockton a better passer; Scottie Pippen a better defender; Shaquille O'Neal more dominant. None combined every facet of the game of basketball into a complete package the way LeBron has (although Magic and Larry Bird came close, minus the defense). (542)

Donald Trump is garbage. America's voting system isn't totally fair. In a democratic government, such as that of the UK, everybody's vote counts. Then, whichever party recieves the majority of the votes gains power. This isn't how it works but in most cases, this is what happens. On the flip side, in America, they use the Electoral College system. Essentially, everyone who is registered gets a vote, then the elector for that state casts a vote based on the way the majority of the states votes. The elector won't always votebased on the way the majority of the state votes. The elector won't always vote based on the decision of their state, but more often than not, the state decides. For example, in the 2016 Presidental election between Trump and Clinton, Clinton won the popular vote by the largest margin ever. But the way the electoral systems works, the trash, racist, old, orange man won. (902) Throughout his election campaign, Trump stated he was going to build a wall between Mexico and America to restrict illegal immigration amongst others. Claiming Mexico will pay for it. In addition, on the 27th of January of 2017, Trump issues a travel ban majority Muslim countries. (284) Lastly, he looks like a cheeto and probably smells like ass. He's also trash. Did I mention.....he's trash? Yeah...he's trash. (131)

The number one goal is to have the Mount Vernon store rated 5-stars, having this rating willl bring back talk and attention for the store. The store will then also again be recognized as one of the best stores in the region and can be picked as the best store in Team Washington once more. I would also recommend that we work on trying to have the service of the store be #1 in the Alexandria region. If the Mount Vernon store could reach this status and be the store with the best customer service in the city of Alexandria, we could potentially take customers from our competition. (586) With the rich history that Domino's has, I believe that we are not currently living up to our standards. With this new propsal I know that you will be able to get back on track. We will get the loyalty from our regular customers and attract many new customers. We will shatter ratings in services, sales, and performance. I will gladly assis in training days and in providing you with the support that you will need. I would be honored to work under you in making this proposal a reality. I hope that you are able to take my suggestions into consideration as we move forward. I look forward to hearig back from you about this plan very soon. Thank you for taking the time into reading this proposal. (701) I have been working for Domino's since Janauary 2015. I worked at the Fort Belvoir and Gunston stores, both managers loved my work ethic and offered me leadership postions. When I worked at the Fort Belvoir, the store was rated as 5-stars. I gained plenty of knowledge from the managers at these stores. I was able to learn all I can to understand. (351)

The film on Kevin Durant as he left Montrose Christian School for the University of Texa, in 2006, reflected a talented tennager full of potential. He had a reach like Strecth Armstong, but no true position. He could shoot from all over the court but had to narrow his shot selection to optimize his efficiency. He could outlep most of the competion, easily snatching boards thanks to recent growth spurt of nearly half a foot the previous summer. His fram, though, was stillwiry. (483) He had all the tools at his disposal- and an enthusuam for the game that could outlast any shooting slump. There were a number of mundane basics Durant needed to learn were he to become the silky-smooth, bucket- getting All-Star, league MVP and NBA Finals MVP the world knows today: how to tape his anles, how to strecth properly, how to build an entire day around the nights game so his mind and body peaked when showtime came (429) The education Durant recieved in college was unique, and- to growing extent- an anachronism in the modern NCAA. According to Durant, coaches don't seem as interested or invested in cultivating the deep, meaningful relationships when the most elite players are routinely one-and-done. (286)

Every scouting combine has its share of fascinating quarterback stories, and thee 2018 combine was no different. Sam Darnold didn't throw. Lamar Jackson didn't run the 40-yard dash, though he did charm most people at the podium. (230) That's what happened to Texas Tech quarterback Nic Shimonek. who has gone the hard way to prominence. The one-year starter transferred from Iowa before the 2015 season and spent most of the next two seasons sitting behind Davis Webb and Patrick Mahomes. (256) Mahomes was the Kansas City Chiefs' first-round pick in 2017 and will be their starter in 2018, but Shimonel's future is far less defined. This despite the fact that he threw six touchdowns in just 58 passing attempts as a backup in 2016, threw for 3,963 yardds 33 and 10 incterceptions as the Red Raiders' starter in 2017. (325)

LONG since, I lived beneath vast porticoes, By many ocean-sunsets tinged and fired, Where mighty pillars, in majestic rows, Seemed like basaltic caves when day expired. The rolling surge that mirrored all the skies Mingled its music, turbulent and rich, Solemn and mystic, with the colours which The setting sun reflected in my eyes. And there I lived amid voluptuous calms, In splendours of blue sky and wandering wave, Tended by many a naked, perfumed slave, Who fanned my languid brow with waving palms. They were my slaves--the only care they had To know what secret grief had made me sad. By Charles Baudelaire

Snow fell in the night. At five-fifteen I woke to a bluish mounded softness where the Honda was. Cat fed and coffee made, I broomed snow off the car and drove to the Kearsarge Mini-Mart before Amy opened to yank my Globe out of the bundle. Back, I set my cup of coffee beside Jane, still half-asleep, murmuring stuporous thanks in the aquamarine morning. Then I sat in my blue chair with blueberry bagels and strong black coffee reading news, the obits, the comics, and the sports. Carrying my cup twenty feet, I sat myself at the desk for this day's lifelong engagement with the one task and desire. By Donald Hall

To the Jeep parked haphazardly on the narrow street I am in love. To the roses, white petals rimmed brown, to the yellow lined pavement, to the house trimmed in gold I am in love. I shoult with the rough calculus of walking. Just let me find my way back, let me move like a tide come in.

The Computing-Tabulating-Record Company, the precursor to IBM, was founded (81)
June 16 1911.At uts beginning, it was a merger of three manufacturing
businesses, a product of the times orchestrated by the fanancier,Charles Flint.
From these humble beginnings sprang the company that Thomas Watson Sr.
mold into a global force in technology, manaagement and culture.
In 1911, biplanes dotted the air and Ford Model Ts appeared in the way.
Forward-thinking people wired their homes for eleectricity and installed
first telephones. In the Belfast shipyard, workers were finishing the hull
the biggest passengers ship ever, the Titanic. The booming US economy was
creating a new hunger for information. There was a need to keep track,
understand and to inform.
Into that milieu stepped financier Charles Ranlett Flint. He worked out
an office on Board Street, just off New York's Wall Street, and invested in
shipbuilding, munitions, rubber, starch and the production or caramel.By the
early 1900s, Flint had to become friends with Theodore Roosevelt, William
McKinley, Orville Wright, Andrew Carnegie and other giants of politics and
business.

The Nike Hurarache line another of those timeless Nike collections that we have Tinker Hatfield to thank for. The sneakers first landed back in 1991 in form of the Nike Air Hurarache, the runner that was one of the earliest examples of Nike willfully creating a sneaker that was stripped to the bare essentials. That stripping also manifested in the branding used. Tinker and co. scaled back the Swoosh coverage to create something that could better rest on the laurels of its technology. That technology was one that actually was in danger of not making it to retails at one point in production. From the point on, the water skiiing inspired sneaker couldn't be stopped. The Nike Air Huarache made its debut in 1991 and almost immediately jumped out of the running category.Huarache like models like the Nike Air Mowabb and the Air Jordan VII took cues from the fit. Jerry Sienfeld wore them on TV, Michael Johnson showed them off in commercials, and a legacy was born.

There is a place where the sidewalk ends And before the street begins, And there the grass grows soft and white, And there the sun burns crimson bright, And there the moon-bird rests from his flight To cool in the peppermint wind. Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black And the dark street winds and bends. Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow, And watch where the chalk-white arrows go To the place where the sidewalk ends. Yes we'll walk with a walk that is measured and slow, And we'll go where the chalk-white arrows go, For the children, they mark, and the children, they know The place where the sidewalk ends.

I DWELL in a lonely house I know That vanished many a summer ago, And left no trace but the cellar walls, And a cellar in which the daylight falls, And the purple-stemmed wild raspberries grow. O'er ruined fences the grape-vines shield The woods come back to the mowing field; The orchard tree has grown one copse Of new wood and old where the woodpecker chops; The footpath down to the well is healed. I dwell with a strangely aching heart In that vanished abode there far apart On that disused and forgotten road That has no dust-bath now for the toad. Night comes; the black bats tumble and dart;

"It is a strange fate that we should suffer so much fear and doubt over so small a thing... such a little thing." (Boromir looking at the ring) "He hates and loves the Ring, as he hates and loves himself. He will never be rid of his need for it." (Gandalf about Gollum) "It's a pity Bilbo didn't kill him when he had the chance! (Frodo) "Pity? It was pity that stayed Bilbo's hand. Many that live deserve death. And some that died deserve life. Can you give it to them Frodo? Do not be too eager to deal out death in judgment. Even the very wise cannot see all ends. My heart tells me that Gollum has some part to play yet, for good or ill, before this is over. The pity of Bilbo may rule the fate of many." (Gandalf) "I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened!" (Frodo) "So do all who live to see such times but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world Frodo besides evil. Bilbo was meant to find the ring, in which case you also were meant to have it, and that is an encouraging thought!" (Gandalf) Boromir: One does not simply walk into Mordor. Its black gates are guarded by more than just orcs. There is evil there that does not sleep. And the Great Eye, is ever watchful. It is a barren wasteland, riddled with fire, ash and dust. The very air you breathe is a poisonous fume. Not with ten thousand men could you do this. It is folly! Legolas: Have you heard nothing Lord Elrond has said? The Ring must be destroyed! Gimli: And I suppose you think you're the one to do it! Boromir: And if we fail, what then? What happens when Sauron takes back what is his?!

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord; he is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored; he hath loosed the fateful lightning of his terrible swift sword; his truth is marching on. I have seen him in the watchfires of a hundred circling camps; they have builded him an altar in the evening dews and damps; I can read his righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps; his day is marching on. He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat; he is sifting out the hearts of men before his judgement seat; O be swift, my soul, to awnser him; be jubilant my feet! Our God is marching on.

O the bleeding drops of red, Where on the deck my Captain lies, Fallen cold and dead. O Captain! My Captain! rise up and hear the bells; Rise up-for you the flag is flung-for you the bugle trills; For you bouqets and ribbon'd wreaths-for you the shores a-crowding; For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;

In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scare heard amind the guns below. We are the Dead. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.

Space is limitless, there is an infinite amount of things. There is so much we have not seen that may help humanity for the better. Our society can be advanced in incredible ways we've never imagined. The beauty and intrigue of space is something that we can all appreciate. Stars, planets and black holes are all the glorious and mysterious things our universe has to offer. A part of why space is so interesting to us is because we are fascinated with the unknown. As human beings we has an inate fascination with what is known and unknown. We seek out knowledge everyday and thrive upon it. We are seekers of intelligence and innovations. Human beings love the unkown, as well as fear it. Space can provide alternatives to our living. Planets that may be inhabitable will be groundbreaking discovery. As humanity strives to maintain it's existence everyday, space may be quite literally the final frontier of our civilization.

Kanye West remains one of the most influential arists of this generation. Every song he makes is unique, organic, and fresh. You can tell he takes his time with his craft by just listening to it. Each song tells a story. My favorite album by Kanye would be My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. In this album, Kanye details the struggles of the entertainment business, as well as the fruits of his success. The part of this album that makes it so pleasing to hear is the fact that anyone can enjoy it. He makes it clear that the average listener can achieve greatness with hardwork and perserverance. Kanye makes music for the people. He is an educator, a poet, and a leader. The music he creates is something we can learn from and be empowered from. The content made by him is timeless, and will solidify him as one of the greats.

You may not know Tyrone Wallace because he spent the first half of the season and a big chunk of the second half of the season in the G League with the Agua Caliente Clippers. At this point, you might be saying, “So he didn’t play in the NBA at all?” Wrong. Wallace has played 26 games this season and he’s started 17 times for a Clippers team clinging to the fringes of the playoffs. Look, that’s not a lot, but watch any game and it’s clear that Wallace has not just the energy of a guy trying to stick in the league, but the athleticism and the production (he’s averaging 16.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 4 assists per 100 possessions). Wallace’s quickness puts him in a great position to be a good off-ball cutter, while his lengthy frame already allows him to be an impact defender on the perimeter. He can also pull this out of his bag of tricks.
File2:
Horford began the season as a third banana, but when Gordon Hayward went down, he became the second option next to Kyrie Irving. Except, he kept playing like a super role player, screening for rookies and anyone else and helping the Celtics develop a defensive identity that has powered them to a top-two seed in the East. Even now, with Kyrie out for the rest of the season and postseason,Horford won’ttap into some hidden offensive prowess to carry the Celtics. That’s not his game. He’ll just keep being Horford, and that’s more than enough.
File3:
Celtics’ Daniel Theis has to be the runaway winner of this award, because he’s the ultra-rare Who is that Guy who actually happens to be good. Before a meniscus tear ended his season, Theis was playing 15 minutes a night for a contender and putting up 17.7 points and 14.7 rebounds per 10 0 possessions. The best thing about Theis, though, is that every time he stepped on the court there was a split second when it looked like a random tall dude from Southie had tricked security into thinking he was an NBA player.

A lady about 8 months preganant got on a bus. She noticed the man opposite her was smiling at her. She immediately moved to another seat. This time the smile turned into a grin, so she moved again. The man seemed more amused. When on the fourth move, the man burst out laughing. She complained to the driver and he had the man arrested. The case came up in court. The judge asked the man (about 20 years old) what he had to say for himself. The man replied, "Well you Honor, it was like this: when the lady got on the bus, I couldn't help but notice her condition. She sat down under a sign that said, 'The Double Mint Twins are coming' and I grinned. Then she moved and sat under a sign that said, 'Logan's Liniment will reduce the swelling.' and I had to smile. Then she placed herself under a deoderant sign that said, 'William's Big Stick Did the Trick.' and I could hardly contain myself. But, Your Honor, when she moved the fourth time and sat under a sign that said, 'Goodyear Rubber could have prevented this Accident!'...I just lost it." "Case Dismissed!!"

Walter took his wife Ethel to the state fair every year, and every time he would say to her, "Ethel, you know that I'd love to go for a ride in that helicopter." But Ethel would always reply, "I know that Walter, but that helicopter ride is 50 dollars and 50 dollars is 50 dollars." Finally, they went to the the fair and Walter said to Ethel, "Ethel, you know I'm 87 years old now. If I don't ride that helicopter this year, I may never get another chance." Once again Ethel replied, "Walter, you know that helicopter is 50 dollars and 50 dollars is 50 dollars." This time the helicopter pilot overheard the couple's conversation and said, "Listen folks. I'll make a deal with you. I'll take both of you for a ride; if you can both stay quiet for the entire ride and not say a word I won't charge you! But if you say just one word, it's 50 dollars." Walter and Ethel agreed and up they went in the helicopter. The pilot performed all kinds of fancy moves and tricks, but not a word was said by either Walter or Ethel. The pilot did his death-defying tricks over and over again, but still there wasn't so much as one word said. When they finally landed, the pilot turned to Walter and said, "Wow! I've got to hand it to you. I did everything I could to get you to scream or shout out, but you didn't. I'm really impressed!" Walter replied, "Well to be honest, I alsmost said something when Ethel fell out but, you know, 50 dollars is 50 dollars!"

As I walk through the valley plagued by the shadows of doubt, my remorseful self stares at the looking glass projecting my regrets. What lies in wait behind the light, where the obscurity of my past blurs my conscientious present, and my future becomes unclear? My soul trembles, clamoring for answers to questions I should never ask. Wretched, twisted, accursed; yet blessed to be alive, a mindful stupor presents a dream... But a dream is nothing more than a presence of mind, wishful thinking. Can I make the dream a reality? Can my actions reflect what my spirit desires? As hard as I try, the illusion of life blocks presumptions held, and my limitations manifest themselves oh so clearly. As it was murmured before, Hell is Other People, and hell is where ambitions cease to exist. Yet, if by hellfire I will be tried, then by Hell, other people will die. Extinction is reserved for the feeble, for appeasing fools not willing to fight for what is dearest to the self... "This above all: to thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man." Other People, false and untrue, Hell descends upon thee as your fealty vacillates. As any other man, true as though I may be, I am not beyond the redemption of the blazing inferno set off by the evil den called society. I am part of you, and you a part of me, society. I will then agree to one thing... Let me be at peace, allow me my own modest and private heaven, and in return I will cherish and nourish you with the strenght of my heart, mind and soul. Other People may be Hell, and I may be Hell to others, but to my Lord that governs existence, I swear, I desire neither your Hell, nor mine. Only Heaven is my ambition, and if my dream ceases to exist because of a frivolous trial by fire, then damnation awaits those who seek to extinguish my spirit.

Indolence, you monster. I cannot understand you. Why are you here? Why was I not in control? I care not for you, yet your presence is ever-present. What is this impulse that drives men into ineptitude? You truly are the bane that sickens the soul. Thanatos birthed you as an agent for the destruction of those caught unaware. I do not just renounce you, indolence, I despise you. Here, and now, I declare total war upon you. I will regain control over my body, so that I may fight you with everything at my disposal... My inaction will be no more. My stagnation will no longer be your conduit. I will be inexorable, as your insolent chains break by the strength of my willpower, indolence. You will never trespass upon my time. Not only are you unwelcomed, I will shoot to kill as you step upon my grounds. Enmity is the only sentiment that you will stir inside of me. Your puppeteer strings have been severed, indolence... My display against you will be eternal. Succumb to my power of diligence. Do not question my discipline, as my Lord commands me to destroy you. You shall be exterminated, as I remove you from my body and from my thoughts. Indolence, you have met your end. Do not say your prayers, as they will be answered by the void. You led to nothing, indolence, and nothing you have become.

What is the essence of Effort? Maybe it is answered in terms of how many calories are available from food consumed. The body could not exert more effort than whatever amount of calories are available to it, could it? From the perspective of a physicist, I believe 'effort' is a measurement of work, or energy. But maybe a physicist does not take into account a human's ability to bend reality around them... Under the pretense that effort is measured in the form of how many calories a certain action takes, then those that over-eat should be the most diligent. But the body takes on many different forms, and some are less efficient than others at the application of effort. An athlete is certain to apply more effort than an obese individual at any given physical task, provided they have the same amount of calories at their disposal. What about mental effort? That one seems harder to quantify. I do not think calories spent would be accurate at measuring mental effort. Conscious effort is very subjective. Synaptic pathways of each individual would determine how much effort has been applied to certain tasks. Which means, those that have learned how to perform a task will apply less effort. Hence why I seek education. I want to perform seemingly complicated tasks with less effort exerted. Education, therefore, is the key to having an easier life :)

Time or fate may seperate friends, lovers, But friendship or love that's true will ever Thenceforth continue to live forever, True love conquiers the odd with its power. As time passes by, things change with the time, Every moment, hour, day, month, and year, All things have their turn to change with the time, Life, time, and events change with the years. Everyone, everything, have a time and day, A time to change, end, begin a new day, Change is life, the course of life everyday, All things change, and we change with them all days. Only the Eternal one is constant, All things in the universe, inconstant, But despite it all, love important, The world may change, but true love is constant.

I come with no wrapping or pretty pink bows. I am who I am, from my head to my toes. I tend to get loud when speaking my mind. Even a little crazy some of the time. I'm not a size 5 and don't care to be. You can be you and I can be me. I try to stay strong when pain knocks me down. And the times that I cry are when no one's around. To error is human or so that's what they say. Well, tell me who's perfect anyway.

By route obscure and lonely, haunted by ill angels only, where an Eidolon, named NIGHT, on a black throne reigns upright, I have reached these lands but newly from an utimate dim Thule -- from a wild weird clime that lieth, sublime, out of Space -- out of TIME. (125) Bottomless vales and boundless floods, and chasms, and caves, and Titan woods, with forms that no man can discover for the dews that drip all over; mountains toppling evermore into seas that restlesst aspire, surging unto skies of fire; lakes that endlessly outspread their lone waters -- lone and dead,-- their still waters -- still and chilly with the snows of the lolling lily. (382) By the lakes that thus outspread their lone waters, lone and dead, -- their sad water, sad and chilly with the snows of the lolling lily, -- by the mountains -- near the river mumuring lowly, mumuring ever -- by the grey woods, -- by the swamp where the toad and the newt encamp, -- by the dismal tarns and pools Where dwell the ghouls, -- by each spot the most unholy -- in each nook most melancholy, -- There the traveller meets aghast sheeted memories ofthe past -- shrouded forms that start and sigh as they pass the wanderer by -- white-robed forms of friends long given, in agony, to Earth -- and Heaven. Ernesto Guevara was born to ernest Guevara Lynch and Cellia de la Serna y Llosa, on June 14, 1928, in Rosario, Argentina, the eldest of five children in a middle-class Argentine family of Spanish descent, as well as Irish by means of his patrilineal ancestor Patrick Lynch. In accordance with flexibility allowed in Spanish naming customs, his legal name will sometimes appear with "de la Serna and/or "Lynch" accompanying it. Referring to Che's "restless" nature, his father declared "the first thing to note is that in my son's veins flowed the blood of the Irish rebels". Very early on in life, Ernestito developed an "affinity for the poor". Growing up in a family with leftist leanings, Guevara was introduced to a wide spectrum of political perspectives even as a boy. His father, a stauncch supporter of Republicans from the Spanish Civil War, often hosted many veterans from the conflict in the Guevara home. Despite suffering crippling bouts of acute asthma that were to afflict him throughout his life he excelled as an athlete, enjoying swimming, football, golf, and shooting, while also becoming an "untiring" cyclist. he was an avid rugby union player, and played at fly-half for Club Universitario de Buenos Aires. His rugby playing earned him the nickname "Fuser"-a contraction of "El Furibundo" and his mother's surname, de la Serna-for his aggressive style of play.

That wasn't something I preached on every corner, only to those who wanted to ride and linger in my van. Differen't strokes for different folks- a lot of people would stay for a day, a week or longer, and then be into moving on. If that was their pleasure, far be ito from me to deny them the other things they sought. However, being the center of attraction, the one everyone leans on, the advisor, the authority and the hub that turns the wheel, can sometimes have an adverse effect on a person. You see it everyday among wealthy people. it often happens in charitable organizations, in religion, in those who govern, those with physical strength, and those who receive even the slightest bit of authority. Given a little taste of power, personalities often change, and someone who was once humble and righteous becomes a tyrant, so caught up in status that the original good becomes bad. Unfortunately, it happens without conscious awareness. But back then, four or five months after my release from prison, I was living a fantasy come true. I had the feeling of being above anyone's power to ever lock me up again. Sure, the pot and the pills we used were technically against the law, but they were so common a person felt almost legal if he wasn't actually selling.

zed tiles have been used in China since the Zhou Dynasty as a material for roofs. During the Song Dynasty, the manufacture of glazed tiles was standardized in Li Jie's Architecture Standard. In the Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty, glazed tiles became ever more popular for top-tier buildings, including palace halls in the Forbidden City, and ceremonial temples (for example the Heavenly Temple). There are two main types of Chinese glazed tiles: glazed tubular tile and glazed plate tile. Glazed tubular tiles are moulded into tube shape on a wooden mould, then cut into halves along their length, producing two tubular tiles, each semicircular in section. A tube-shaped clay mould can be cut into four equal parts, with a cross section of a quarter of a circle, then glazed into a four plate tile. Glazed plate tiles are laid side by side across and overlapping each other. In the Song Dynasty, the standard overlap was forty percent, which increased to seventy percent in the Qing dynasty. With the Song-style forty-percent overlap, it was not possible to have triple tile overlap, as there was a twenty-percent gap between the first plate tile and the third plate tile. Hence, if a crack developed in the second tile, water leakage was inevitable. On the other hand, with the Qing dynasty style seventy-percent overlapping, the first plate tile was overlapped seventy percent, forty percent, and ten percent by the second, third and fourth tiles, respectively; thus even if the second and the third tiles developed cracks, there would be no leakage.

Award for Best Short Story is a literary award assigned each year by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA) for science fiction or fantasy short stories. A work of fiction is defined by the organization as a short story if it is less than 7500 words; awards are also given out for longer works in the categories of novel, novella, and novelette. To be eligible for Nebula Award consideration a short story must be published in English in the United States. Works published in English elsewhere in the world are also eligible provided they are released on either a website or in an electronic edition.[1] The Nebula Award for Best Short Story has been awarded annually since 1966. The award has been described as one of "the most important of the American science fiction awards" and "the science-fiction and fantasy equivalent" of the Emmy Awards.[2][3] Nebula Award nominees and winners are chosen by members of the SFWA, though the authors of the nominees do not need to be a member. Works are nominated each year between November 15 and February 15 by published authors who are members of the organization, and the six works that receive the most nominations then form the final ballot, with additional nominees possible in the case of ties. Members may then vote on the ballot throughout March, and the final results are presented at the Nebula Awards ceremony in May. Authors are not permitted to nominate their own works, and ties in the final vote are broken, if possible, by the number of nominations the works received. Beginning with the 2009 awards, the rules were changed to the current format. Prior to then, the eligibility period for nominations was defined as one year after the publication date of the work, which allowed the possibility for works to be nominated in the calendar year after their publication and then reach the final ballot in the calendar year after that. Works were added to a preliminary ballot for the year if they had ten or more nominations, which were then voted on to create a final ballot, to which the SFWA organizing panel was also allowed to add an additional work.[4] During the 53 nomination years, 215 authors have had works nominated; 39 of these have won, including co-authors. One of these authors, Lisa Tuttle, refused her award, and in 1971 no winner was chosen as "no award" received the highest number of votes. Harlan Ellison has won three times out of eight nominations, both the highest number of wins and the highest number of nominations of any author. Ten authors have won twice, with Karen Joy Fowler at seven and Gardner Dozois at six having the next highest nomination count after Ellison. Michael Swanwick has the most nominations for short story without winning at six, and Howard Waldrop and Gene Wolfe are next with five each. No other author has been nominated more than four times.

programs were initiated, one of which was proposed to directly confront the United States' then-projected Advanced Tactical Fighter (that was to lead to the development of the F-22 Raptor and the YF-23 Black Widow II). This future fighter was designated as Mnogofounksionalni Frontovoi Istrebitel (MFI) (Multifunctional Frontline Fighter) and designed as a heavy multirole aircraft, with air-supremacy utmost in the minds of the designers.[citation needed] In response to the American X-32/F-35 project, Russia began the LFI program, which would develop a fighter reminiscent of the X-32/F-35 with a single engine, without the capabilities of a true multirole aircraft.[citation needed] The LFI (Lyogkiy Frontovoy Istrebitel, Light Frontline Fighter) project was intended to develop a lightweight fighter with respectable air-to-ground capabilities. Yakovlev proposed the Yak-43, an upgraded Yak-41 with a stealthier design and more powerful engines. After neglecting the MFI competition, Sukhoi decided to submit a design for the LFI called the S-37 (unrelated to the heavyweight forward-swept wing fighter). This S-37 resembled the Gripen in that it had canard foreplanes, a delta wing and one engine. Mikoyan entered the MiG 4.12. MiG could not afford to develop both the MFI and LFI, so their LFI entry was eventually withdrawn. Developed into Mikoyan LMFS. Russia would later change the designation of the LFI project to LFS, making it a multirole aircraft with emphasis on ground attack capability. During the 1990s the Russian military cancelled the LFS projects and continued with the MFI project, with minimal funding, believing that it was more important than the production of a light fighter aircraft. No advanced fighter successor to the Su-27 and MiG-29 family has entered service. Sukhoi won the latest PAK FA competition in 2002; the aircraft's first flight took place on 29 January 2010.

Permissions and other Specs
Part 1 — Learn vi and Post your Topic
Before making Outlines and web directories, find a vim tutorial you like and get comfortable
using it.
Then, use vi to edit files in your home directory named File1, File2, and File3, each with at least
three well-formatted paragraphs from a text, novel, article or your own poetry, prose, or blog.
Make each line of text a max of 75 characters wide.
Set the permissions for each of these files to 600, readable by only yourself
and root.
Make a directory named Outlines in your home directory and
edit the topic for your brief on the 1st line of a file named Brief1 in the Outlines directory.
Nothing else is required in the file for Part 1 but line 2 should be left empty if there is.
The file should be ‘plain text’, with no HTML.
Set the permissions on the Outlines directory to 700 and the file Brief1 to 600.
Check the progress page to make sure Outlines and Brief1 are in the right place with the right permissions.
The progress page is updated one second past every minute. Enter ‘date’ at the command line
to check the time.
Part 2 — Posting Your Outline and References
Part 2 of the project is to find references for your brief,
organize them, make an outline for the brief, and use vi to key the outline and references into the file Brief1.
Brief1 should be a plain-text file, should not have any html, will only be read
by you and the instructor. It should be organized by indenting to show the ‘levels of the outline’.
When you’ve completed the research, edit the file Brief1 and add
a nicely indented outline for your tech market brief, starting in line 3, leaving the 2nd line empty.
Single-space between each entry in the outline, leaving no ‘blank line’ between the lines of your outline.
Use spaces to make indentations to structure the outline.
After the single-spaced outline, double-space to leave an empty line and list your references.
If you have done this properly, your feedback below will show your topic,
the first entry in your outline, and the first reference in your list.
Part 3 — Making the 3-page website:
Please find and comply with all the specs posted on the class’ page and mentioned in class for the HOL/Tech Brief project.
Make a valid skeleton of your website first, then pitch your brief in standards-compliant html and css.
Please complete these little tasks at the linux command line without desktop editors!
Steps, without FileZilla or WinSCP, at the command line:
- Make a directory named ‘web’, all lower case, with no apostrophes, in your home directory
if you haven’t already done it.
Set it’s permissions to rwx—–x so you have full access to it and httpd can include it in a path. - Use vi to create and edit index.html in your web directory. Verify that it shows up
as index.html in your progress report below. - Use vi to edit a file named Brief1.html in your web directory.
Your Brief1.html will hold the web version of your technical market brief. - Set the permissions of any web pages, css, graphics,
or other files in the web directory to 604 rw—-r–.
If there are subdirectories, set them to rwx—r-x.
Grading:
Get any questions answered in class, not in email.
Snapshots of this page, the contents of your home directory, and your history at the command line will be
taken after the deadline and used to score the timeliness and quality of each component at the time it was due.
