Throughout time, getting around places were different than today. People would use things like paper maps to get around. Now, in today’s age people now use digital navigation in their phones called “global positioning system” to get around. In 1959, the first real satellite navigation system was called the TRANSIT. It was used to locate submarines and took hours to receive signals from the satellites. As global positioning systems got better, different companies created different features of the system for different landscapes. This creates competition and a market where consumers choose what is the most reliable to them. The top three GPS apps in the market today are Google maps, Apple maps, and Waze. To understand the reasons why consumers choose these certain apps for navigation we will look at its history, and features.
