We will start with Safari and get to know its features. Safari was first released in 2003. Safari is optimized for IOS. It is the default browser for macOS, iPhone, and iPad. Safari has a couple of key features which make it stand out from its competition. For starters, Safari has proven to be more energy-efficient than competitors. An operating system is essential for supporting a computer's basic functions. Operating systems are in charge of managing software resources and computer hardware. Safari runs on macOS and ios and iPadOS. IOS is the mobile operating system and it is the most used operating system ahead of android. IOS was written in C, C++, Objective-C and Swift programming languages. IOS uses a multi-touch interface. This allows you to swipe and pinch things on the screen. One thing that makes IOS a great mobile operating system is how has a protective shell for each app. With a protective shell, it makes it absolutely impossible for a virus to infect the devices apps but malware may cause problems. Also with protective shells, some complication comes into play because it does not allow apps to transfer data between each other. Apple is constantly working all year round to improve its mobile operating system. Some new key feature from their latest update for IOS 13 are system-wide dark mode, improved Siri and redefined stock apps and reminders and notes. IOS is currently the fifth most used platform in the market. This proves how dominate the IOS operating system truly is. As for Google chrome, it is a cross-platform browser that runs on every operating system but it is usually always found on android operating systems. Android hardware is based on the ARM platform and is also an open-source operating system. An ARM platform is a family of reduced instruction sets for computer processors. With Android being open-source this allows anyone to use it. The Android operating system was written in Java, C, and C++. Android competes with IOS by offering lower prices for just about the same technical specs. Android also allows for more freedom with downloading apps which can be a plus and a negative at the same time. Android operating systems are behind IOS operating systems but still is a great option for mobile devices.


With society being so reliant on the web and being able to access it through our mobile devices, we do not consider the security risk has much as we should. According to the Department of Computer Engineering at Vishwakarma Institute of Information Technology, more than half of mobile browsing users click through SSL warnings and neglect security measures (Patil and Shah 1373). Sandboxing takes code and sets a specific amount of permissions that can not be manipulated. Google Chrome runs the sandbox by itself. Google Chrome does not have full access to your computer because it is set in low permission mode. Most codes ran on computers is sandboxed such as PDFs, Browser Plug-ins and mobile apps. Applications with IOS and Android operating systems are restricted from operating the same way regular desktops applications would. For example, on IOS if an application wanted to access your location a pop up asking for permission would appear. Mobile browsers generally do not have to worry about many threats but there are a few.

A threat for mobile users to be concerned about is malware. Malware is software that was made to damage computers, servers or computer networks. Malware comes in many forms such as worms, ransomware, spyware, and adware. Mobile users may wonder how lethal malware on their device may be and what it will cause. This is somewhat of a rare case for some. A few of the most common ways a mobile user can be harmed by malware are downloading apps, message attachments or connecting to other devices. Malware is more common in Android systems because Google allows you to download from other sources besides its app play store, unlike IOS. Malware can affect Android and IOS differently but for the most part, both have data that can be stolen. Malware can be used for several criminal activities such as collecting information from text messages, credit card information from filling online forms and even data calling and sending recordings. Safari is optimized for better reading experience on the web but fails to allow you to access your content anywhere as Google Chrome does. When comparing operating systems Google Chrome would be the best option due to how many android users there are in the world. Android is also more cost-effective which can draw in more users who cannot afford the luxury of using an IOS operating system. For IOS users though there are pluses such as being able to share web tabs across other Apple devices. Apple has made users commit to their products this way. Looking at security specs a mobile users have a better chance of staying secured on an IOS operating device rather than an android. Apple limits you to their apps and has made downloading items on mobile browsers difficult to do unless your device is jailbroken. For those users seeking freedom on your device then Google Chrome on android operating systems would be best for you. Remember to stay safe while web surfing by taking time to read SSL certificates and making sure these web browsers have the correct permission settings. Overall these tow browsers are great! Offering smooth and reliable web surfing. They both get the job done at the end of the day. When choosing between the two it all comes down to personal preference. Ultimately you may find yourself using both during your user experience.
