What is GPS?

Global Positioning System which is known as GPS. GPS is a navigation system that tells where you are in the world and how to navigate around the world. The GPS gives you the precise longitude and latitude for your directions. This system works best in a car or on your smartphones. By having this system beside you, you'll never get lost ever again. Anyone can use GPS it does not matter who you are. GPS tracking tells where something is. GPS have operarting system where you can put a tracking device on your dog, cat, phone, or even your child. The sallite transmits three bits of information, the numbers position in space. GPS provides a real-time, three-dimensional such as positioning, navigation, and timing 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and all over the world. Which means you will end up using many situations that have GPS handly. Also, the cost is a good advantage because smartphones with GPS and without equivalent are much lower than the price of full browser.

History of GPS

The history of GPS tracking vehicles started in 1978, when GPS technology experiment Block-I GPS satellite. This satellite was launched into space and manufactured by Rockwell International. Smartphone VS. Dedicated Car GPS (PND)

GPS navigation are quickly growning into robust product category with different consumers options. The question that I may ask you, "should you use a smartphone navigation app or go for a dedicated GPS device from a leading manufacturer?" Well smartphones such as iPhone or Androids operating-system-powered models had a sharp and clear display. The GPS navigation does have a small fonts and menu, which can be difficult to use at an arm's length if it is mounted on the windshield. But it is meant for a palm-of-the-hand operation to hold in your hand comfortable. Many smartphone's have a turn-to-turn navigation, which the phone rest on the passenger seat or some other flat area, but there is no doubt that a windshield or dash mount provides the best viewing for turn-by-turn in car directions. Google had its own way with their Google Map Navigation. Google Map would generally have good experiences and accurate directions from any name-brand smartphones with turn-by-turn apps. Some smartphones GPS navigation app can take advantage of GPS's connectivity. In other words, check out what the app is offering before you buy it. Personal navigation devices are known as PND. Dedicating PNDs with may or may not include cellular network/internet connectivity. They generally have excellent web browsers, while PNDs have minimal-functions browsers or no browsers. But smartphones would have the edge of connectivity. Which is consider the smartphone navigation vs. PND debate. PNDs keep map on board, and these should be updated frequently.

Past, Present, and Future

On October 4th, 1957, the Russians launched Sputnik satellite in surprising the world. It was caused by Doppler Effect, which is the same as making the time of car horn change as the car rushes by. The frequency radio signals transmitted by small Russian satellite. At that time, it struck an idea with the scientists. In the year of 1959, the "Transit" was first built by the Navy. They built their first real satellite navigation systems. This system was designed to locate submarines and start with six satellites and eventually ends up with ten. In the 1963, the study for the military that proposed of the system was to use as space satellites that sends signals endlessly to the receivers on the ground and could locate vehicles while it is in motion across the earth's surface of in the air. In 1974, for the past 11 years, the military launched the first satellite of a proposed 24-satellite GPS system that was called NAVSTAR. In 1978-1985, the military launches 11 more test into space to test the NAVSTAR system, which then was called "the GPS System". In the year of 2001, GPS receiver technology got more cheaper and smaller. The private companies started pumping personal GPS products, such as in-car navigation devices. In the year 2004, Qualcomm developed and tested "assisted GPS" technology that allowed phones to use cellular signals in combination of GPS signal to locate within feet. In 2005, the new generation of GPS satellite, called "Block II", launched from Cape Canaveral. New breed of satellite spread in seconds. In most year, 2009, the Government Accountability Ofice (GAO) had delivered reporting warning that by $5.8 billion efforts it would update the GPS satellites with issues such as techical problems, cost overruns, and delays that some of the satellite could begin to fail in 2010.
