Server/Workstation class computers: Who uses them and how?
Many businesses today use and rely on servers and workstations to accomplish their business needs. The cost of implementing a server into the
business environment is outweighed by the many benefits gained from it. A server stores, retrieves, and sends files and data to other computers, called
clients, through a local area network (LAN) or a wide area network (WAN). This architecture is called the client-server model. A workstation is a computer
that is dedicated to business or professional work. They are similar to PCs but usually have more processing power and memory for intensive business tasks.
