A Smartphone is a mobile or cell phone that permits one to do more than just make phone calls and send text messages. Smartphones can browse the internet and run software programs like a computer. Smartphones are loaded with features and abilities that make them more than a phone. It's innovations brought the world new ways of communication and entertainment.It completely changes the role of communication in society.

Operating System and Storage - Smartphones also use Operating system. The four most common operating systems are IOS (Created by Apple), Android (Created by Google), Blackberry (Created by research motion), and WIndows Phone (Created by Microsoft).
Smartphones uses Flash memory to store apps and data. The flash memory is usually built into the phone and are non-removeable. Some smartphones may also have a flash memory card slot, often designed for an SD card, allowing users to utilize external storage.
History of Smartphones
The first unofficial smartphone was devloped by IBM in 1992. It was a prototype devive, with PDA like featured, including maps, news feeds, and stock quoted. The prototype resulted in an improved version being released to the market in 1994, called the Simon Personal Communicator. This device was the first official smartphone, with capabilities to send and receive e-mails, and included apps like an address book, calculator, calendar, and a notepad
The touchscreen was a huge innovation in the world of smartphones that was take from british air traffic control towers in 1967. Even though IBM was the first to launch a "Smartphone" with a touchscreen, it didn't reach success. It was not untl the launch of Apple's Iphone in 2007 for touchscreens to become widespread. As we look in time, Blackberry was the prominent smartphone for many years and it didn't have a touchscreen. Blackberry was releasd in 1999, by canadian company, but then it introudced voice-integration in 2002. It had small QWERTY keyboard that allowed internet access and was very prominent in the corporate worls. One of the most influential years for smartphone evolution was 20007, It was the year Steve jobs and the team revealed the very first Iphone. It wasn't until the year 2000 that the smartphone was connected with an actual 3G network
It is tremendous to see how far the Smartphone industry has come since its conception. People waited in long lines just to get their hands on one. The smartphone is a great technological and a "must have" devices now. The history of smartphones is fairly new and new innovations are developing literally everyday. In 2007 the first Iphone was released. The device was offered at a 4GB level ($499) and 8GB ($599)
