Cloud computing is the future. Technology is moving to times where the process of delivering and enabling software services is using internet technologies. Characteristics that most cloud service providers use is elasticity and self provision. On a on-demand basis, customers can provision services and providers can shut down services when no longer necessary. Most customers usually subscribe to cloud services under a monthly billing arrangement. This avoids the burden of paying for software licenses. Cloud computing is an operational expense in this case. Companies are moving over to cloud-based technology as it is beneficial in the time we are living in. Maintaining and upgrading software is a headache for companies. To have the ability to access storage and software at any given time is the best offer yet. Big shift for the traditional way companies think about technology resources. Benefits of the cloud go from cost, speed, global scale, productivity, performance, and security. The fast innovation helps lower all operating costs leading to more efficient productivity. There are 3 different cloud deployment that are not the same. The 3 components consist of hybrid, private, and public cloud computing. Hybrid cloud combine private and public clouds that are put together by technology that allows applications and data to be shared between them. Private cloud is resources used for a single entity or organization. Public cloud is operated and owned by third-party cloud service provider that deliver their cloud resources like storage and servers over the internet. Cloud services fall in 4 categories such as software as a service (SaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), infrastructure as a service (laaS), and severless. SaaS consists of delivering software applications over the internet on a on-demand basis. PaaS supplies an on-demand environment for developing and delivering software applications. IaaS is renting IT infrastructure from a cloud provider on a billing arrangement. Serverless computing consists of building app functionality with spending time managing infrastructures and servers to do so. Business goals will be achieved knowing what these services consist of and how they are different from one another. Companies that provide the software and are most recognizable is Google, Amazon, and IBM.
