What is Smart Home Technology?
The term 'Smart Home' is used to reference a device, such as a smart phone or tablet, that can remotely control a product in one's home from anywhere in the world where wifi is available. Smart devices have an embedded system, and an embedded system is a computer system specifically designed for the smart device to which it is attached. Embedded systems make smart devices a part of the Internet of Things, and the Internet of Things is used to describe an interconnection between the Internet and computing devices, allowing them to send and receive data.
Emerging technologies in the early 2000s marked the beginning of advanced use of smart home products. Smart technology increased because of economical advantages that embedded devices are able to provide. They are dedicated to specific tasks which reduce size and cost while increasing performance. A combination of increased technology, knowledge and affordability of embedded items has resulted in smart home's integration into homes everywhere with an exponentially booming market.
