I'm sure you've heard the banter -- somebody bragging about their computer with an inordinate amount of processing cores and 32+ gigabytes of RAM. And you, especially if you're not a tech-oriented person, sit there thinking "What the heck is RAM and why is it so great?"

RAM (Random Access Memory) is where currently utilized data in a computing system is temporarily stored for quick retrieval. In layman's terms, RAM is a computer's working memory. The more RAM you have, the more the computer's "working memory" is amplified; meaning the computer can multitask on increasingly complex programming as it is raised.
