Hello! Welcome to my INFO 300 Project. I will be guiding you today and informing you about Consumer/SOHO, Wireless Routers, FIOS, and DSL. Most importantly,
I will be informing you about how each of them work and the advantages and disadvantages from them.
Wireless technology has adanved to a point where people have become dependent on it and without it is difficult to even communicate with anyone.
In this website, I have given a in-depth explanation on the different types of wireless technology involved in our daily lives.
We will investingate the advantages and disadvantages of each type of wireless technolgoy and how it impacts our lives.
Consumer/SOHO or another way to say it, Small office/home office refers to the category of business that involves 1 to 10 workers.
Before the 19th century, business offices were small and consisted of small amounts of computers, but as technology has advanced, businesses have started to
develop better technology such as personal computer and fax machine to suit the business needs. In order to accomodate for those needs, they needed bigger rooms to fit all the devices.
And in the end, the dependent on the internet has become a great phenomenon.
Wireless routers is a device that performs the functions of a router and also includes the funcitons a wireless access point.
The most common OS on a wireless routers are Linux. Wireless has shown that technology has advanced. Before, personal computer were required to connect to the internet through ethernet.
But every since, wireless has provided many users with accessbility to the internet, whether using a personal computer or smart phone. And ever since, wireless router has become stronger and faster to transmit data and securely.
Many times when you hear FIOS you think about Verizon. Fios is actually an acronym for Fiber Optic Serivce.
Fios started in 2005 and the network eventually expanded through 2010.
Verizon was actually the first U.S carrier to offer fiber optic technology.
One of the benefits of Fios is the download speed and upload speed.
Download speed and upload speed can vary dependent on 50mb/s - 940mb/s.
Fios is super reliable and rarely has any downtime, which is why a lot consumer prefer to use them.
DSL also known as digital subscriber line is a family of technologies that are used to transmit digital data over telephone lines.
DSL is a service that uses wired telephone capability and uses higher frequency bands for data.
DSl can also be used to bridge networks. In the bridged configuration, two users can connect to a single subnet for data transmission and communication.
Without DSL, many of the wireless technology would of not been able to be developed.
