Virtualization as a Tool

What is Virtualization ?

Virtualization is the process of creating a virtual version of something in a computer practice. Virtualization was developed in the 1960's and has since been in a critical tool in Information Technology in the assistance of storage management and cost reduction. Virtualization results in the ability of end-users to utilize one hardware device with multiple softwares; the convenience of this has made the concept more and more popular in the past decade.

Virtualization has 2 main types: Hardware and Software.Hardware virtualization is the virtualization of an operating system or computer; in this approach a virtual machine manager, known as a hypervisor, is created and embeds into the circuits of the hardware component. The hypervisor works to make sure that the hardware can handle numerous Operating Systems by working with its processor, memory, and others. Software Virtualization is when the software is installed on virtual space instead of on the computers hardware. The virtualzed software runs on top of the host Operating system and in turn helps with placing an added layer of security and easier Software Migrations.
