The Next Frontier
According to Google, cloud computing is "the practice of using a network of remote servers hosted on the internet to store manage, and process data, rather than a local server or a personal computer". It is a big development in Information Systems that changes how businesses all over the world operate. In the past 20 years, businesses have had to create their own personal office netwokrs with servers, racks, and account for expansion in case they ever need it in order to propery collect and store data.
Cloud computing is a big deal because it changes the way we collect, store, manage, and view data. It makes data more avaliable and easier to collect and store so companies can use it to improve their businesses which in turn helps the customers.
While it's surprisng to most people, Amazon leads the Cloud Computing market with its Amazon Web Services branch that has started rapid expansion across the United States and the world by supplying over 80% of all the Cloud Data market. Microsoft is also another big name brand Cloud Computing provider with Azure which has started to get an edge on the Retail Market. Google is also up there because they provide cloud business to most of the gaming and mobile compaies out there.
Companies should start looking into Cloud Computing because it will save them a lot of time, energy, and money. They don't have to worry about setting up a network or servers for their data or have to worry about things that go with data such as security and backup. It takes a entire department worth of burden off of their shoulders.
Not to mention that a lot of companies fail because they can't build a scalable network system that will adapt as the company grows; with cloud computing, they will never have to worry about running out of data storage space.
