Did you know that there are 50 million Americans that have been diagnosed
with an autoimmune disease? There are 80 different types of autoimmune
diseases and they are all unique. The one common cause of these is that
the body's natural defense system can't tell the difference between your
own cells and foreign cells, causing the body to mistakenly attack normal
cells.

It is important to bring awareness to this issue, especially for women because
autoimmune diseases including lupus and multiple sclerosis affect women ten
times more than en. Diagnosing autoimmune diseases are very difficult and
require a combination of tests along wit a doctor's assessment before
any certainty.

Risk Factors for Autoimmune Diseases:
Genetics: Certain Disorders such as lupus and multiple sclerosis tend to
run in families.
Smoking: Research has linked smoking to a number of autoimmune diseases,
including lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, hyperthyroidism, and MS.
Certain medications: Certain blood pressure mrdications or antibiotics can
trigger drug-induced lupus.

Preventaive Measures/Healing Tips:
Get checked for heavy metal toxicity.

Use nutrients such as fish oil, vitamin C, vitamin D and probiotics
Excercise regularly

In February 2015, a Forbes article ranked Richmond as the "nation's
fast-growing rental market for millenials between 2007 to 2013."
This fact may seem like a good thing to most people. The reality
of this situation is different, even though Richmon is becoming a
hotspot for outsiders to move into, a lot of lower income residents
are being pushed away due to gentrification.

In order for these original residents to keep their homes, there has
to be a difference in Richmond. The lucrative tactics that property
owners use purely to gain more capital and not to better the community
need to be halted.

To bring back community driven projects rather than profit driven, there
needs to be an increase in affordable housing in Richmond. This would
also provide for better economic opportunities. Building new apartments
and homes do not always reflect a positive opposing threat to gentrification.

One instance of this is in Oregon Hill. It is one of the latest Richmond
neighborhoods affected by gentrification. 82 new townhouses and condos are
being built and selling for $220,000 to a half a million dollars. These homes
are replacing the rundown houses that have always attributed to Oregon Hill's
authenticity.
