A database management system (DBMS) is a system software for creating and managing databases. The DBMS provides users and programmers with a systematic way to create, retrieve update and manage data. A DBMS makes it possible for end users to create, read, update and delete data in a database. The DBMS essentially serves as an interface between the database and end users application programs, ensuring that data is consistently accessible The DBMS is perhaps most useful for providing a centralized view of data that can be accessed by multiple users, from multiple locations, in a controlled manner. A DBMS can limit what data the end user sees as well as how that end user can view the data, providing many views of a single database schema. End users and software programs are free from having to understand where the data is physically located or on what type of storage media resides because DBMS handles all requests, The DBMS can offer both logical and physical data independence. That means it can protect users and applications from needing to know where the data is stored or having to be concerned about changes to the physical structure of data. As long as programs use the application programming interface for the database that is provided by the DBMS, developers wont have to modify programs just because changes have been made With relational DBMS (RDBMSs), this API is sql, a standard programming language for defining, protecting and accessin data in a RDBMS.
My experience with DBMS is decent. I have a job as a DBA or Database admin I work from both at a cubical and or at home when I cannot make it to the MC I mostly work with SQL Server or Transact SQL. This is a Microsoft owned language that is coused with Azure Database. It is coded in SQL SERVER MANAGEMENT STUDIO. Along with knowing SQL, I must know how to use Microsoft Visual Studio Knowning how to use ETL, (Extract, Transform and Load) This is used with the software SSIS or SQL Server Integration Services. This is a software to perform broad range of migration tasks, for workflow and applications. It is also good to know XML and HTML. For creating and editing landing pages for easy directory access to pages that our company uses every day. Such as AIM, Capacity Planner, IMAT, Scheduling Decision Board and so on Knowing how these tool work is a big part of being a DBA it is not just Knowing how to create and control data in a Relational Database A big part of supply chain is to know the business as well as you know the technology. You will not know what to write in a Database if you do not know what it is used for. Also you cannot understand the need and then make mistakes that will need to be rolled back with a transtion. You mostly work with views and tables joining them together to see what data is going where. All in all this is fun but tedious work. Managing systems is an important thing to look out for as one mistake can make your company lose all its data and could cause them to start from scratch or shut down
