File1:

The playstation is a video game console that is developed and marketed
by Sony Computer Entertainment. The idea of the sony playstation was from
a sony executive named Ken Kutaragi. It was originally a joint venture
with Nintendo back in 1988 to make a CD-ROM for the Super Famicom.
The two companies had split due to disagreements with revenue sharing,
so the president of sony, Norio Ohga, assigned Kutaragi with a duty to
compete with nintendo gamimg consoles.

The fist playstation was released in Japan on December 3, 1994 and in the
Unites States on September 9, 1995. The game was a huge success, selling
over 120 million units at a cost of $250 per unit. The console had to compete
with the Super Nintendo andSega saturn at the time by utilizing a video
compression unit called MDEC which allowed for full motion video at a
higher quality than the other consoles.

There were many versions of the game released years after. For example,
the ps one was a small compacted version of the console that did not have
a rest button and serial ports on the back like the original playstation did.
Also a portable version of the console was released with a small 5 inch LCD
monitor and an adaptor battery.

File2:

The playstation 2 was release in Japan on March 4, 2000 and in the United
States on October 26, 2000. With its massive improvements from the original
playstation, the console sold over 155 million units making it the best
selling console of all time. The console was backwards compatible with the
playstation one making the transition to the new console more appealing.
In addition, the console allowed players to play audio CD's and DVD's.
It outnumbered its competitors; Nintendo GameCube and Microsoft Xbox, by
the amount of games it played, over 3,100 titles, and the ammount of
comfortablity the controller had.

The system provided titles such as Grand Theft Auto, Metal Gear Solid 2,
Omnimusha, Gran Tourismo, and Jak and Dexter. These titles were able to
work on this type of system becaus of the Emotion Engine CPU that was
implemented in the hardware. The CPU allowed the system to render over 3
to 16 million polygons per second, making the animations move and feel as
though they were real.

The console to this day has been a big part of our society, it chnage the
way we look at video game consoles. Nowadays, most consoles are able
to be backwards compatible and can read DVD's and audio CD's.

File3:

The playstation 3 was relased in Japan on November 11, 2006 and in the
United States on November 17, 2006. It began development in 2001, announcing
their collaboration with IBM and Toshiba to develop the Cell microprocessor.
The console was for a wopping $499 at launch which caused major concerns
within the public. The console included the abiltiy to read BluRay Disc's,
which became the norm years later. The console was split into two different
model options;20 gb and 60 gb. The 60 gb model featured HDMI port, Wi-fi
internet, and flash card readers.

The plastation3 launched titles such as F.E.A.R, Sonic the Hedgehog, Elder
Scolls IV: Oblivion and Virtua Fighter 5. Only the early releases of the 60
gb models are backwards compatible, the other releases of the system are not
unfortunaley. The PS3 slim was released years later that was not backwards
compatible but came with a mini fan imported in the back of the console
to automatically cool down the system.

However, due to the price oint of the console at launch, sales fell and its
competitors had the upperhand intially. On its last leg during the 2010's,
the playtation was able to increase sales due to exlusive titles such as
The Last of Us. Plastation has always had the better exclusive than its
competitors due to te amount of money put in to the development of the
games.
